Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
So I, along with several other friends, have been planning the launch of a sports website, called Premier Sports Talk. It’s been taking most of my free time (i.e. blog time), but I hope that it’ll be worth it.
Including my ‘partners’, we have at least nine people committed to being regular contributing writers already. We’re hoping to have at least 15 by the launch, and based on the number of interested suitors, I don’t foresee that being a problem. It’s going to [obviously] be all about sports, focusing largely on the four major U.S sports, but also giving equal attention to other major events, such as the Master’s or the World Cup. We’re also aspiring to eventually publish an official PST podcast, hopefully within a couple of months of the launch of the site. I also think it would be most ideal to offer the site as a publishing grounds for a great number of sports podcasts. (So if you miraculously happen upon this post and have a podcast that you would like to get more attention for, you can always hit me up about it).
But here’s the real plot of this story. The realization of this dream (it’s been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember to do something like this, whether or not it ever became a means of living) couldn’t have come at a more inconvenient time. I lost my job a few weeks ago and I continue to look for other work, though I’ve also signed up for a side income venture in the business of travel, which you are always welcome to check out (click on the 1, 2, 3). But starting a website (or a good one, at least) takes money. Suddenly, money that was being set aside for the site has been reassigned to rent and utilities. I’m not really that worried, because I care enough about this to make it happen, no matter what it takes. But it is still a setback and everybody hates a setback.
From a different perspective, the timing has been ideal. I’ve had more time to put more thought into the planning stages of the site, which makes me all the more confidant that we can actually make it succeed, despite being in a suffocatingly dense industry.
So if you come across You’re Ugly… and you happen to feel compelled to show support for PST before we even have a website, you can always follow us on twitter or become a fan on facebook. Or you can also always donate to the cause, though I’m not selfish enough to actually expect that. :-)
